Does Your Soil Pass the Test?

Is your sod sad? Your mums glum? Your pumpkin shrunken? Your asters disasters? Your holly no longer jolly? Has your willow stopped weeping? If any of this sounds familiar, the problem might just be your soil. It might be failing, maybe it is too compact? More than likely, however, the soil is lacking essential nutrients and/or the pH is not right.

How would you know and what can you do? The best way to find out and before you start adding things to your soil is to test the soil. You can try to use one of those do-it-yourself kits, but unless you are an expert, you are wasting your money. The way to go, and the one I always recommend, is a Penn State Soil Test. For just $11.00, (and a few stamps), and about one hour of your time to prepare the sample, Penn State’s Lab will not only analyze but also give solutions to remedy any deficiencies. As an added benefit, Herbein’s experienced staff, at no cost to you, will help with interpreting the results. So whether nutrients are needed or the pH (a thought for another day) needs adjustments, Herbein’s, as usual, is here to assist you. We will also show you how to prepare the sample and complete the form.

So stop in and we can get you started on bringing the smiles back to your plants while keeping more money in your pocket.
