By mid-November, your lawn should be well on its way to dormancy and you should be making your final cut this month. Clean up your mower and put it away until spring! A second fall or winter fertilizer should be applied around Thanksgiving and this will keep your grass green through December by adding nutrients to the roots which continue to grow even though above ground it is dormant. It will also get the grass going in the spring but not forced to grow as an early spring fertilizing will do. The fall fertilizing will help your lawn survive the winter and thrive in the spring. Your first spring application will not be needed until May once applying the fall or winter application. We have great fall fertilizers to use such as Scotts TurfBuilder and Lebanon Turf Greenskeeper.
