      Hello James,
No, the SLF feed on MANY types of trees other than just the tree of heaven and they can lay their eggs anywhere. On cars, sides of homes, on lumber, just about anything anymore. They feed on plant sap which gives them a high sugar rich liquid that you’ll see located at the bottom of the tree which is from them excreting the excess amount from theor body. It’s been noted from last year (2018) that maples & oaks had some severe sap oozing after the SLF feeds on them. It’s also been reported that the SLF have over 65 host plants in which are attractive to the lanterfly at different cycles of its life.
