London Planetree

Platanus acerifolia ‘Morton Circle’

The London planetree is a hybrid of the American Sycamore and the Oriental Planetree and known to be the toughest of all shade trees. It can take it all – from air pollutants and road salt to wet or dry soil conditions. If it is properly fed & watered, a young London Planetree can grow up to 3′ per year, but will gradually slow its pace when it’s older. It forms an upright, pyramidal habit with attractive green foliage that turns a copper-bronze in the fall. The London Planetree’s bark adds a significant interest during winter months and is the main attraction of this particular tree.
